Janine Ogando is an attorney with Berding|Weil in the corporate and business law department. She provides general counsel services to community associations concerning day-to-day operations, governance, and real property/title issues as well as assists in construction defect litigation and support.
Ms. Ogando has practiced in real estate, construction, and business law for over twenty years. Before focusing on community association law, she had her own practice and was general counsel for the oldest and largest refractory contractor in North America, as well as its subsidiaries, one of which was international. She has served as general counsel for various types of corporations, including technology, biotech, and was partner with a premier California real estate law firm. Her experience includes risk management, copyright, infringement, employment, contracts, insurance coverage, easements, ownership rights, mechanic liens, construction defects, consumer protection, anti-SLAPP, product liability, environmental and safety. She defensed her recent construction defect litigation matters. She is well rounded with both litigation and transactional experience, which gives her unique perspective in protecting clients. She has prevailed on every appeal taken on any of her cases.
Ms. Ogando received her Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. She received her B.A. Saint Mary’s College of California, graduating Magna Cum Laude and received the highest award at the college as well as the highest award for her major. She has since served as president of the SMC Alumni Association and has served on several boards and scholarship committees.
